The Corner Store Presents: 100 Years of Soda Fountain Service – A Community Celebration

We’re closing a portion of Main Street for the afternoon to mark a milestone that helped shape Fountain City. ⛲️🏠

This spring marks 100 years of soda fountain service at The Corner Store. Our historic Liquid Carbonic marble soda fountain bar, custom white oak back bar, matching white oak soda fountain stools, and original tin ceiling were all installed in 1926 by local craftsman Adolph Schwark during the ownership of pharmacist Simon “Si” Richtman.

That moment transformed the City Drug Store into a true Soda Fountain and established the gathering place it would remain for generations. Today, it stands as one of Wisconsin’s oldest surviving soda fountains.

To celebrate, we’re taking over Main Street with premium ice cream floats, handcrafted sodas, local makers, food vendors, and live music from Red Wing’s Brent and Sheena – bringing you peace, love, and music from the ’60s to today.

Bring a chair, step back in time, share some stories, and celebrate one of the things that makes Fountain City so special.
