Explore Fountain City, Wisconsin

Fountain City, Wisconsin, settled in 1839, is the oldest settlement in Buffalo County. It is home to the US Army Corps of Engineers, offering them the largest natural harbor on the Mississippi River. The town offers pleasant vistas of the Mississippi River along various points on Hill Street. Eagle Bluff towers over the community as the highest point on the Upper Mississippi at 550ft. Seven Hawks Vineyard perches on the hillside outside of town while their Tasting Room is nestled in a historic downtown building. Monarch Public House, established 1894 and per the Wisconsin Historical Society, is the oldest continually operating tavern in the state. Merrick State Park is just north of Fountain City. The northern gateway to the Great River State Trail is just south of Fountain City at Marshland.

Kinstone is unique in all the world. It has been said that Kinstone features the largest privately owned stone circle in the world with over a million tons of granite boulders, standing stones and sculptures.

Boating and Fishing
Fountain City has an excellent boat launch onto Pool 5 on the Mississippi River on the South end of the community. You can also find brand new docks for fishing and boating that are located right in the downtown area!
